Treatment principles

Ayurveda is the medical system that mentioned the importance of the mind in the development of illness. The decisive factor is the balance between body, mind and soul.

समदोषः समाग्निश्च समधातुमल क्रियः।

प्रसन्नात्मेन्द्रियमनाः स्वस्थ इत्यभिधीयते।

“A person in whom the doha is in balance has a healthy agni (digestive fire), normal functions of dhatus (basic substances of the body) and malas (excretions) and a clear state of atma (soul), which is swastha (healthy individual ). «Sushrutha samhita: see below: 15/41 Sushrutha samhita:su:15/41

The two basic treatments in Ayurveda are Samana and Sodhana. If the body is slightly exposed to toxic substances, the patient is given medicine - this treatment is called samana. However, if the body is heavily burdened with toxic substances, an attempt is made to eliminate these substances through all body orifices by means of a special cleansing process called Panchakarma.
